Meeting November 17, 2001

SARVAC GENERAL MEETING

MEMBERS PRESENT:

Jim Brewer (Vice President -Klikitat), Jake Weber (Yakima), Terry Lawrence (Member at Large - Jefferson), Darrell Monore (Member at Large - Yakima), Clide Weik (Pierce), Sharon Fisher (Treasurer - Yakima, Russ Lowe (Pierce), Doyle Wenzel (Unaffiliated - West Coast Search Dogs), Brooks Hanford (Past President - Kitsap), Art Jordan (President - Cowlitz), John Kennedy (Thurston), Bob Bommer (Snohomish), Glen Shultz (Snohomish).

Meeting called to order at 1:15pm.

Minutes from previous meeting - accepted by board members with one addendum. As noted in board minutes.

Executive board report - Jim Brewer

a. Change next meeting in minutes to 1pm.

b. Terry Lawrence elaborated on the 9-11 FEMA response from Washington State.

c. WSARCA member Jim Hall (Yakima) is handing off standards to Rick Lavella.

d. Art Jordan has received a request form the Governor to provide guidance to on SAR volunteers.

e. Moved to approve. Seconded. Approved.

President's Report - Art Jordan.

a. Last meeting had a lot to do with 9-11.

b. State's terrorists plan is operational.

c. You will not hear about the plan to keep it from falling in the hands of the terrorists. If it works you won't hear a thing. If it doesn't you probably will.

d. Talked about Governor's Advisory Emergency Management Council.

e. Conference 2002 in Skamania County.

i. Some changes in regard to who's in charge of the conference. Now firmed up.

ii. Up and moving now.

iii. Ready to meet with SARVAC.

Secretary's Report - Not Present

Treasurer's Report - Sharon Fisher.

i. Account Balance: $1,711.84

ii. Counties with dues paid for 2001: Cowlitz, Jefferson, Pierce, Snohomish, Whitman, and King.

iii. Will re-bill the other counties.

Committee reports

a. WSARCA. as noted above.

b. Standards. Nothing to report.

c. Training. Nothing to report. May need to resurrect this when we get more counties on line

Activity Reports:

a. Klickitat - see mission report provided by unit.

b. Yakima - see mission report provided by unit.

c. Jefferson - All Quiet.

d. Pierce - No report.

e. Snohomish - see mission report provided by unit.

f. Grays Harbor - All Quiet.

g. Kitsap - see mission report provided by unit.

h. Cowlitz - see mission report provided by unit.

i. Thurston - All quiet.

j. King - see mission report provided by unit.

Old Business:

a. Internet Domain name for SARVAC - Paul Fison.

i. Provided proposal for possible domain names.

ii. Brooks Hanford moved to register SARVAC.INFO as out Internet domain name. Terry Lawrence seconds.

iii. Motion Carries.

iv. Paul Fison will register it.

New Business

a. Need a committee to review first cut of formatted SARVAC standards.

i. Jim Brewer moves that SARVAC supports Rick Lavella in his formatting of the SARVAC standards. Brooks Hanford seconds.

ii. Discussion

iii. Terry Lawrence Calls the question. Paul Fison seconds.

iv. Motion Carries.

b. Nominations for President, Treasurer, and one Member-at-large opened.

i. Brooks Hanford nominated Art Jordan for President, Seconded by Terry Lawrence.

ii. Terry Lawrence nominated Sharon Fisher for Treasurer, Seconded by Brooks Hanford.

iii. Terry Lawrence nominated Darrell Monroe for Member-at-Large, Seconded by Art Jordan

iv. Terry Lawrence moved to close nominations. Seconded by Brooks Hanford.

v. Motion Carries unanimously.

c. Presentations for General Meetings.

i. Pres or Vice Pres will coordinate.

ii. If anyone has suggestions or would like to present contact Jim or Art.

iii. Presenters should be in the agenda sent out prior to the meetings.

d. Minutes on the web site need to be posted earlier.

Not everyone is getting the minutes. Need to be posted NLT 20 days after the meeting.
