Washington State Standards for Out of County Response

Communication standards

Communications personnel shall meet the standards of the General SAR, Ground SAR and the Standards in this section.

1. All personnel shall have knowledge in the following basic communications skills:

A. Message handling and logging procedures
B. Radio network operations

(1) Network Control Station (NCS) operations
(2) Radio relay operations
(3) Tactical radio procedures

C. Amateur Radio personnel must be at least, licensed as a Technician Class Amateur Radio operator

2. Typical communication Nets:

A. Search team nets -- Organizational field nets of each search team
B. ICS nets -- Search teams to base camp
C. Base camp to home base net
