SAR Standards
These are the standards recommended by the SARVAC for people serving in counties other than their own .These are NOT State standards. They are not law. They are only suggestions a county may wish to follow.

Washington State Standards for Out of County Response
General SAR Standards
A. SAR volunteers that responds out of their county will:
1. Meet the WAC 118-04 and these standards
2. Have sufficient amounts of items below to be self sufficient for 24 Hrs:
- A. water
- B. food
- C. personal equipment
- D. clothing
- E. shelter
3. Have a basic knowledge of:
- A. Their organization's structure & operating procedures
B. Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD)4. Have a working knowledge of the Incident Command System (ICS), to include:
B. SAR volunteer units whose members want to be available for out of country missions shall
1. Maintain training records documenting members current qualifications
2. Establish a call out procedure
3. Establish leadership criteria
4. Respond with a unit liaison who has a working knowledge of
