SARVAC
The following material relate to rules and regulations that SARVAC wants its members to be aware of.
It is not meant to be all the rules and information related to SAR.
If you have not read the regulations, click the underlined "regulations". SARVAC Executive Board announces that the Washington state minimum search and rescue standards are now open for review. The standards review process procedures, are as follows:
1. Written requests for revision of the existing standards will be accepted
by Washington state search & rescue coordinator, Chris Long.

2. Written requests from any SAR volunteer, SAR unit or SAR council can be submitted at any time they recognize the need, but only written requests will be accepted.
3. Chris long will refer requests to the SARVAC standards review committee (SRC) as soon as his schedule allows.
4. The standards review committee (SRC) will consist of three volunteers from SARVAC members appointed by the president. At least one member will be from the SARVAC executive board and will serve as chairperson. The SRC members will serve at the pleasure of the current SARVAC president.
5. The SRC will acknowledge receipt of each change request from the state SAR coordinator. A letter will be sent to the SAR volunteer, SAR unit or SAR council who submitted the change. This acknowledgment will be issued within 30 days of receipt from the state SAR coordinator and will establish a time frame in which they anticipate making a decision.
6. The SRC will seek input from knowledgeable volunteers in the appropriate discipline, and make a written recommendation to the SARVAC board.
7. The SARVAC executive board will present the SRC recommendation to the voting membership for approval at the next regular meeting. The SRC will notify the requestor of the disposition of their request.
8. SARVAC will forward all changes of the minimum SAR standards to the state SAR coordinator and Washington state search and rescue coordinators association.
9. SRC will recommend implementation dates for changes which they deem to -be an emergency. All other changes will become effective on January 1st of the following year.
