What is SARVAC? SARVAC is the Washington Search and Rescue Volunteer Advisory Council. It was created by the Washington State Department of Emergency services in 1981.SARVAC was given three tasks:
To meet the tasks given to SARVAC requires statewide coordination. SARVAC is a representative organization in which each of the 39 counties in Washington State has one vote. Each county that has a SAR Council choses one representative to SARVAC from their council. In counties that do not have a SAR Council, a representative is chosen from among the SAR groups in that county. In addition, there are two classifications of non-voting members: advisory and associate members. Search and Rescue missions occur in all counties of the state, but not every county is able to provide the required resources. Working together we can support each other in our efforts to save lives.
